Having tried most FREE antivirus software I know which ones are better then others, however most FREE antivirus do have there draw backs.
they often dont update as often as the paid for versions... this is quite an important factor due to new virus, worms etc being discovered on a daily basis. You can only be protected against the nasties if your Antivirus software has the latest virus definition database installed.
The pro for FREE Antivirus is? because it is FREE right? well yes this is true but depending on people's budget I would say it is better to pay for Antivirus software if at all possible, it really is worth paying that extra for peace of mind and protecting your valuable data i.e. pictures, word documents.... often too late when you get a virus and the virus eventually takes hold of your files and then you can not boot into windows!!
If this does happen then you need to recover the data by using specialised methods, at PC Response4u I am able to recover your valuable files so please contact me if I can help you.
If you are going to get a FREE Antivirus software then I found
Avira Antivirus to be the best in my opinion;
Very good on cpu/memory useage and does not slow your computer down like some paid Antivirus softwares I can think of
Good detection rate for viruses
interface is easy to use and looks ok
You do get pop up ads with Avia but all you have to do is click off these.
Screenshots can be found on this link screenshots
I will be posting up more FREE software to use in future blogs as well as paid software
